If I hadn’t done the research, If I hadn’t lived through it, if this wasn’t my province it would feel real to me too. (THREAD) https://twitter.com/nowthisnews/status/1335029370461810690
The man seems sincere doesn’t he? If you just pretend his other viral moment where he laughed at dead Manitobans didn’t happen. And that’s literally what this is, A man and his PR team pretending his negligence towards his own people didn’t happen.
What we’re seeing here is a great example of what good PR campaigns do. They give a man a quote, sprinkle on some crocodile tears, have it filmed, and ship it off in 101 media releases in the hopes that they get this: A sweet little 3 minute viral moment. While Manitobans die.
The lesson here? Take a second before sharing these 3 minute out of context clips. I beg of you. NowThis is a repeat offender but there are others. Consider who benefits from the lens you are seeing the situation through. What are the people on the ground saying?
It is so easy to put on some music, subtitles and some well timed cuts and create a narrative. Consider what other information you’ve consumed this way that you hold as truth? Can you feel confident about these truths when you are watching this fabrication in real time?
I’m saying this mostly to remind myself. I do this all the time. It’s so much easier to consume the information in these bite sized packets, but we have to remain diligent. Otherwise men like Brian Pallister get away with it. I can’t live with that.
Anyway all of this is to say:

ACAB even your Uncle. No justice no peace. Land Back. Black Lives Matter. Fuck a colonizer and if you’re not with it at this point what kind of a push do you need
