#nffc Thread. The current problem with Forest is that no owner that can afford us will be willing to take the time to invest strategically in order to build us as a premier league-ready club, because the club is in the dangerous position of being ‘too big’ for the championship
but ‘too small’ for the prem. Much of this is down to fan expectations, and the general expectations of a club of Forests’ stature. Compare us to clubs like Swansea and Brentford. Whilst those teams have been slowly building, implementing a style and foundation for the continued
growth of their club, we have been swinging for the trenches every single season because the expectation on this club from all angles is that ‘Forest have to be a top 6 team’. No less is acceptable. Last season, we managed to have an identity as well as a core group of players
that put everything on the line for Forest - whilst they fell short, that would have been rewarded by the two clubs I mentioned previously. The fans and media and owners would have been rightfully disappointed, but the weight of expectation would have meant that they would
recover faster and easier from that kind of situation.
Forest simply cannot. We cannot survive as a championship club, but we cannot thrive as a championship club either leaving us in a no mans land of missed opportunity, lack of cohesive strategy and leadership desperately
Forest simply cannot. We cannot survive as a championship club, but we cannot thrive as a championship club either leaving us in a no mans land of missed opportunity, lack of cohesive strategy and leadership desperately
trying to solve the malaise as fast as possible. Leeds were exactly the same. The only difference between Forest and Leeds is Marcelo Bielsa - a manager who turned their club round in a single season with the same players they had before. They got lucky and hired the perfect man
at the perfect time in the perfect job. Forest will be doing the same thing until we get promoted - single season strategy after single season strategy desperately trying to find a formula that works. #VrentzosOUT might be popular, but in and of itself is a symptom of the problem
This is not a criticism of Leeds, btw. They found a strategy that worked and turned the club around. Forest might do that too. But to suggest that Bielsa was anything other than taking another chance at a single season strategy is disingenuous at best and ignorant at worst
