The corporate elites wanted us to use REIMAGINE as our slogan. Highly palatable, friendly, vague... Indeed, campaigns to REIMAGINE everything from customer service to factory efficiency swept across the corporate world as attention to equity & social politics became unavoidable.
In the corporate world, REIMAGINE is currently just a synonym for DOWNSIZE. Every year it gets a new name to keep employees and customers alike on the hope train, but let me tell you, the only things being reimagined are the CEO and shareholder's profits.

You've all seen this.
That THING that corporations do year-over-year to jade their employees and leave them feeling trapped by so-called golden handcuffs while company profits explode... that's not what I want for the police.

Ironically, that's exactly what they've been doing tho.

More of the same.
Beyond all of their cavalier reasons for joining the force and wanting to make a positive impact, police don't like their customers anymore than Taco Bell employees or customer service agents.

They don't like their boss. They aren't given the right tools for the work. But MONEY.
When a company REALLY wants to fix its business operations - typically because there are customer-facing deficiencies, corporations looking to avoid layoffs usually use standards of measure to thin the workforce and ripen the frontlines for strong rehire.
Where a labor union benefits from enforcing a reasonable standard amongst its own and would release someone involved in a homicide, police unions uniquely consider murder and assault to be parts of the job. Their very position allows the intimidation used to uphold that opinion.
So what does work for the corporations doesn't work for the city managers. But what doesn't work for laborers doesn't work for the cops either.

What works for the CEOs and shareholders certainly works for the police lobby and prison shareholders tho.

Notice who profits.
By next Spring, REIMAGINE will have been replaced by REKINDLE or REINVIGORATE or GETTING BACK TO BASICS, and the cycle will continue.

Trying to tie our tangible demand to a fleeting corporate trend was an attempted swoop and I'm glad y'all stayed tight.

DEFUND THE POLICE
