One of the all-time great @ChicagoBulls, @JoakimNoah, retired from the game this week. A savvy, relentless warrior on the court; a joyfully irreverent presence off. He invested himself greatly in a programs for inner city kids & to stop gang violence.
He was a gift to our city!
In 2010, @BarackObama invited some @NBA All-Stars to join him for a pickup game before wounded warriors in a gym at Ft. McNair. During the game, the POTUS gleefully trash-talked @JoakimNoah, for his, uh, unorthodox shooting style. “Where’dya get that ugly shot?” Obama taunted.
Noah, nearly 7-feet tall & one of the @NBA’s greatest defenders, finally heard enough and decided to guard Obama. Unlike his All-Star teammates, who had given the POTUS wide berth, Noah completely and gleefully locked him down, to the howls & cheers of the crowd!
