Why this arc is faster paced - a thread!
So I've seen a lot of people talk about how quickly this segment of the story is going and, whilst I agree that this is going quite fast, there is a reason why and it's to do with the arcs and specific characters this storyline focuses on and affects.
First of all we need to look at the storyline Wilbur wrote, as many seem to compare this current schedule of writing to his. There are many differences with Wilbur's pace of writing and Dream's - with good reason.
With Wilbur's arc and storyline, the story HAD to be slow paced. Wilbur's development into insanity and grief was one that had to build up gradually over time, small events and scenarios chipping away at the optimism he had. You have to bear in mind, Wilbur came out of Manburg
as an optimistic, grieving, yet hopeful President as he had literally only just managed to win Independence. For him to lose that optimism and hope, you would have to take time to develop into that. You would have to take time to reverse his undying love for his nation, people,
friends and family so that he could be consumed by grief, pain and insanity to the point he felt there was no other way out than to destroy such a pivotal place of division, conflict and bloodshed.
Dream's storyline and arc is different, and rightfully so. Tubbo and Tommy have already been developed to a point in previous arcs that already makes their actions believable. We can see the cracks in their friendship start to show when Tubbo is made vice president of Manburg. We
can see Tommy's anger for those who have power over him and look down on him when he is thrown into the pit with Techno. They have already had enough development to the point that their arcs can now properly move forward. Slowing the pacing of the writing would have a knock on
effect with the development of its characters, making it look as if we are covering old ground that we, as viewers, already know. Furthermore, with such an explosive outburst from Tubbo in the exile, the arc HAD to be quickly paced to show the pressure and stress quickly
building up on Tubbo to the point he saw that there was no other option but to exile Tommy. And this is because their friendship already started to break down with the war for Manburg. It had to be quick, it had to be snappy so it could be more effective.

You can also say the
fast pacing can reflect Dream's control over the SMP. He said he was an agent for chaos, and thus the quickly paced storylines reflect so.
In conclusion, each storyline is paced differently because it HAS to, in order to effectively convey the actions and motivations of the characters as well as the tone of the series.
