I get a lot of people asking about my name.

Yes, it's my real name, written on my birth certificate. Yes, I like Star Trek, yes I'm a geek or a nerd or whatever you call it, yes I like my name.

Here is a thread about how I got named after a Star Trek character:
This is the scene in Star Trek that gave my brother and I our names. It's from my dad's favourite Star Trek film, Generations 🖖🏻
My parents wanted to name my brother after Data, but when he was first born, they didn't think he looked much like a "Data" or a "Brent" or a "Spiner". Then my dad remembered watching the Season 7 TNG episode, Thine Own Self, where Gia calls Data "Jayden".
We were named after those two characters because that scene in Generations because of how Troi bravely pilots the Enterprise D saucer, and how Data protects Troi during the crash, ensuring she stays at the helm to control their descent.
It's my dad's favourite scene in the whole of Star Trek. But it's also a powerful scene, and reflective of the fact that my parents wanted my brother and I to be there for each other through thick and thin.
My dad also liked the character of Counsellor Deanna Troi, and how her character evolved over the course of the TNG series and the films. So he and my mum named me after her. The empath who cares deeply for her friends and family, who looks out for others.
I think some part of my dad's intuition tapped into my newly forming personality, as I have a lot of the same traits as the character. In a weird way, I think he chose the right name for me, because it just fits 🖖🏻
So yeah, I really like my name. I like the fact I'm named after a Star Trek character. I like the fact it represents me and a part of my personality.

So take the mickey out of my name all you want; it's the meaning that counts here 🖖🏻
I'm also still trying to work out if @apollo_jayden is as much like Data as I am to Troi...
It's so lovely to hear all of your name stories, and all of your Star Trek stories! 😊🖖🏻
