What I’m noticing is that long term brand partnerships (6-12 months/upwards $40k-$100k+) are usually given to influencers who have a strong social presence AND one consistent evergreen channel (blog, podcast or YouTube channel).
Let me explain: there’s the evergreen 3 - blog, podcast or YouTube channel you have more or full ownership of these channels and the shelf life of this content extends WAY longer than social content. Which is why brands are still willing to pay $$$$$ for them.
You’re 🔥here? Great. You’re great and popular on IG? Fantastic. But unless you have millions of followers on one of these social platform, you eventually peak at how much you can make if you don’t have an evergreen content channel.
The great thing about this is that you don’t need to have a huge following on your evergreen channel. You just have to be consistent. Like, once a week consistent. You can INSTANTLY double your rate, when you have a consistent evergreen channel. I did this all throughout 2020.
You will ALWAYS be able to leverage the content you own for (WAY) more than content you publish on a platform where you have no ownership. This is why what @KevOnStage is doing is MASSIVE. You can still leverage brand partnerships AND sell directly to your audience on YOUR terms.
Even with a fraction of the social media followers you have, if you convert these followers into subscribers or members of your own platform, the conversion on your own content is waaaaaaaaay higher. And that’s what brands are looking for. CONVERSION.
I’ll end with this. Young Black content creators DOMINATE the trends, themes and topics on every social platform. Shift the energy to a blog, podcast or even a YouTube channel in 2021. Show up every week for your evergreen channel. You will notice a shift.
