HACKS TO TRIPLE YOUR TIRE'S LIFESPAN

Tires are the car's contact to the road. They smoothen the ride, enable a wide variety of safety features to work and add to the aesthetics of a car

Making them last is not only a good for your wallet but also good for the car

1. GOOD SHOCKS

Tires absorb shocks, when you're shocks are faulty or bouncy the tire will have to absorb more shocks than normal, wearing them out faster

HOW TO CHECK:Press the car down selectively on all sides. It should bounce once and rest, anything more is faulty. CHANGE

TIRE RODS

They prevent front wheels from playing left to right unnecessarily.A faulty tire rod won't hold the tire straight hence the sideways movement wears your tires and decrease fuel economy

HOW TO CHECK:Jack tire up, hold it in a quarter to 3 position. should have no play

BALL JOINTS

Ball Joints help the wheel sit straight and not at an angle. This helps the car exert weight evenly across the wheel so that you don't have worn tire sides

HOW TO CHECK: Same as tire rods but hold the wheel top and bottom and shake
Should have no movement

PROTECT FROM SUN

UV degrades rubber... Park in the basement, under a shade or buy a car cover

BUY THE RIGHT TIRE

Nobby tires are great for offroading & give the car an awesome look but have less surface area in contact with road meaning, less traction, less breaking efficiency, etc

The small area in contact also carries more weight per square inch hence wears out faster

TIRE PRESSURE.

The tire pressure rating is indicated on the tire. keep the pressure within the indicated limits

Over inflation wears out the centre faster while under inflation wears out the edges.

Also under inflation causes a lot of friction=heat=blowout
