(not to say the OP is doing that, just that it's one of those things where people will cling to literally anything, real or imagined, to shit on women)
And just to clarify: terf itself? Not a slur. The way it's used in current rhetoric? Ranges from "too lazy to spell out the fact that I hate women" to really unhelpful obscurantist nonsense that adds nothing to the conversation
Also i want to say i *have* run into women in gc / terfy spaces who are extreme in their views, but I generally chalk that up to their being somewhat new and emboldened by feeling like they can finally speak their mind. There are assholes everywhere and it's not something to keep
quiet about or pretend it doesn't exist, but that doesn't invalidate the concerns we have.
And also, as a personal note, you can never be sure that the people you're talking to or RTing are for real. The same goes for threads like the one in the OP: great thread & i def agree with @threecatpileup, but I've become slightly paranoid about newly created accounts. I wish
