The old canard that Canadian conservatism is to the left of the American Democratic party needs to die.

At the federal level our conservatives are indistinguishable from American Republicans. The Democratic party is very much like our Liberal party.

They have no NDP equivalent.
The NDP types are folded into the Democratic party and get much more accomplished that way.

Which is what I've always said we should do, but for some reason the NDP folks think they get more done this way. (Hint: they don't).
I think they believe "their day will come". (Hint: that seems exceedingly unlikely, meanwhile progress hangs up on the Liberal/NDP acrimony)
