Watched a film last night that was set in part in a council house. Weirdly, as well as the house being a tip, the front door was covered in what looked like thick grease or dirt. Please tell me the last time you went to literally any house and the front door was dirty?
Please, please, especially if you're not from a w/c background, stop making out that council houses are always dirty.
The film is a first feature and so I feel like it would be unkind to name it, but it's (not that) shocking that none of the glowing reviews about the film pick out the clunky, and in points just offensive representation of the w/c experience
The experiences of w/c people naturally exists on such a broad spectrum and yet, the films that seem to do well are the ones that present violence, dirt, bad parenting, absent fathers, drugs etc. Kind of annoying!
