The GOP's problem with Trump has always been that he says the quiet part out loud. They never had an issue with what he does, they just wish he would do it quietly & covertly rather than overtly. They are fine with his policies. He is hurting the marginalized, "The Others"
Why did many of them vote for Joe Biden, but split their vote & vote GOP downballot? Well it's the same reason they voted for Beshear in Kentucky. They did it to get Trump out because they hate him & that he broke all the rules about doing things quietly & out of view.
That's why they're quiet about his attacks on the Electoral process. It's not because it's an attack on Democracy. It's an attack on the marginalized, on people who they don't want voting anyway & it gives them an excuse to pass laws in states to make it harder for us to vote.
Do I think Georgia will be a win? I hope so. But logic tells me to look at the numbers from Nov. Perdue's margin was bigger than Joe Biden's margin just like Loeffler & Collins' margin together was bigger than Joe Biden's margin. That means people were splitting their ballots.
To me, the Math alone means Georgia is a heavy lift. So I'm operating under the assumption that we'll have a GOP led Senate & with Nancy Pelosi having less leverage in the House. Whatever Joe Biden can do will depend on a handful of GOPers who were ok with Trumps' policies.
Do I think McConnell will work with Joe Biden? He'll work with Biden more than Obama because Biden ain't Black but he'll control Biden's agenda. He'll treat Biden like the "Brave GOPers" who he lets vote no on stuff. So for at least the next two years it will be status quo.
And that's how the GOP voters who voted for Joe Biden wanted it to be. They wanted to get Trump out, but wanted to keep things as they are now, with the marginalized seeing no progress & they're gonna make it difficult as hell for Joe Biden to get anything done.
It's gonna fall on Dems to go back to what worked for them in 2018 & to get good candidates to run for the House & Senate for 2022 & to push the Squad to the sidelines & to push back on that wing. It's gonna fall on us to not be mad at the lack of progress & to show up in 2022.
We can't make the same mistake as in 2010. We need to show up & deliver the Senate & the House to Dems in 2022. That's when we will have any chance at seeing any progress in our communities.
