Thread - Comissioning - Its time for a Radical Rethink!

I would like to announce I will never again go for any substantial commissions where feedback and some kind of support is not offered to unsuccessful applicants. This process is is unsafe for me and therefore inaccessible
I spent #InternationalDayOfDisabledPersons having selfharming thoughts, and thinking that 20 people hated me and thought my work was crap. There is ofcourse self responsibilty and the reality that unsuccessful commissions is part of the course as an artist.
However I reject the 100% onus on me as an artist to accept that's the way things are and to just deal with it.
I challenge high profile commissions and the smaller ones to radically rethink the set up
As an individual artist itt does not sit well with me that presumably everyone else involved in processing my application was renumerated. The combined work of all the applicants gave these people an income whilst all I gained was a mental health crisis
By support I mean If unsuccessful I would still like feedback and support to move my work forward. This would make the experience more equal safe and accessible
So Commissioners I challenge you. Change the set up. Disappointment is inevitable, but it is not inevitable that this way of doing things is the only way. Let's make HOLISTIC commissioning a new thing.
