1/ 4 yrs since the Ref and still the easiest deal the world has ever seen is no nearer. 4 yrs since they blew, not just the doors, but the whole wall off and then stepped through to push forward the coup they thought would take years.

2/ 4 yrs to turn this tiny island in the cold N sea into a failed state manufacturing its own colossal debt and failing to keep its population safe. 4 yrs to divide a nation, sow despair and anger everywhere and

3/ 4 yrs in which to enrich the already wealthy and pass laws which turn a fragile democracy with no constitution into an autocracy. We are three weeks away from leaving the largest trading bloc in the world with little idea where we will land.

4/ Whichever way you look at it the Tories have changed this country forever. Thatchers ambition finally realised - but perhaps not as she would have had it. The Welfare State many of us were born into has been virtually destroyed - in its place chaos, looting, and fear.

5/ And still the Tories manage to convince people that they are the party of tradition, of good governance, of progress and of meritocracy. Still they get people to vote for them in great numbers and will do as long as they control the narrative and Labour fights its own shadow.
