What you are referring to as The Bethlehem Star is the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction at 0 degrees Aquarius. I do not call it by that name myself, in part because it centers a religion and narrative that is not my own, but also because it imparts an undeservedly messianic overtone. https://twitter.com/triouxscout/status/1334657798970339328
Jupiter relates to faith and ideals, not simply religious but also philosophical, and a sense of optimism, the belief that a good outcome is even possible. Jupiter is expansive, and thus tends to make what he touches bigger, for better or for worse.
Saturn relates to rules and structures, and is the classical ruler of Aquarius, a sign concerned with social structures and thoughts that have crystalized into knowledge. Saturn shows us our limitations, our fears, insecurities, and obstacles.
While these two are classically referred to as "the Greater Benefic" and "the Greater Malefic," these planets whether alone or combined are not inherently good or bad. But together they do correlate with significant societal change, for better or for worse.
These two planets come together regularly every couple of decades. But the element of the signs that they join in repeats over a longer cycle. Thus, their conjunction at 0 degrees of Aquarius marks the beginning of a new cycle in air signs, after a cycle in earth signs.
Earth signs are focused on material matters, whereas air signs are focused on matters of thought and communication. Jupiter and Saturn beginning a new cycle in air signs suggests a societal change from a focus on the material to the mental, from the concrete to the abstract.
But how that may play out is anybody's guess. For example, would this reduce our levels of material consumption, & impact commerce accordingly? Or would our consumption simply shift to include more virtual products, as our markets & our experiences become increasingly digital?
Some particularly optimistic people reference "the dawning of the Age of Aquarius" in connection with this Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, thinking of Aquarius as inherently benevolent and dedicated to a utopian vision for humanity.
But like all things in astrology, Aquarius is neither inherently good nor bad. Both Jupiter and Saturn can relate to authority, and since Jupiter expands what he touches, the societal changes in the wake of this conjunction could turn totalitarian just as easily as utopian.
This is not to set the stage for fear surrounding this conjunction and its implications, but merely a reminder to consider a spectrum of possibilities, rather than getting caught up in overly optimistic or pessimistic interpretations.
What I think is most important to focus on in connection with this conjunction is the potential for creating lasting change, and our responsibility for ensuring that whatever changes we create, we are mindful of their impact beyond our selves and our immediate circle.
Aquarius invites us to see how the evolution of the individual is a means to the evolution of humanity, and a concern for the evolution of humanity opens greater potential for the evolution of the individual. We are a social species.
Aquarius as an air sign invites us to a greater understanding of how our thoughts and words impact us all. It also makes us more mindful of the systems that we create, and how those facilitate or inhibit freedom, justice, and the well-being of all.
