I've seen loads of people talking about how "vol 6" might be a correllation to the stages of sunflower life. I’m not gonna pretend i’m an expert gardener/botanist, but from the research i’ve done and my knowledge of biology, i have some ideas (backed by evidence ofc) +

Now: how this relates to harry.
"Vol 6" alluding to growth stages is just a theory, but if that was his inspiration, that’s significant. Harry is describing the good, cheerful parts of his relationship, when it feels like he and his partner are smiling towards the sun. +

Based on the sound/lyrics, the song is trying to suggest that the rel is young, flourishing, but also eager and ready. It’s not brand new and fragile, but it’s also not too old - the song has aspects of immaturity and joviality but also strength, trust, and deep love. +
This definitely fits with the R-6 stage of life. Young and sunny, loving and committed, full of seeds/opportunities for growth. Harry does an incredible job in this song of walking the (fine) line between new and old, mature and immature, liking and loving. +

They "kiss in the kitchen like it’s a dancefloor" but they’re also at the point where harry "couldn’t want you any more." He was just tongue-tied, like a kid with a crush, but he’s also STILL tongue-tied. The not-new relationship still has elements of innocence & freshness. +
"Sunflowers just died" alludes to the wilting of the ray flowers during R-6 and probably a fight/argument in the relationship: it looks like the sunflower is dying because, typically, wilting signifies the death of a plant. +
