The Netflix Effect and the stock market- A Thread
The Netflix Series the Queens Gambit has been extremely successful. This has given interest to chess across the world. Especially in these past few weeks. This has caused an increased use of people buying and playing chess.
Then there is this company Zynga (ZNGA). They make game apps for iPhones and Androids. One of there apps is Chess with Friends. A game that allows you to play chess with friends. It is now number 100 in the board game category.
What does this all mean- $ZNGA is up 6% in the last 5 days. This is what some investors hope for in a year for ROI. So this is a perfect example of a positive externality for a show.
