An earlier conversation had me digging through old video (unfortunately not the best quality) of the time a young otter decided to stop by the pond of my resident beaver family. Such drama! The beavers chased the otter around for a few hours before everyone settled down.
It was five against one. I'm guessing the otter had recently left its natal territory and was checking out the pond. It seemed more like the otter was just taunting the beavers than actually threatening them.
The otter was very vocal while the adult beavers eventually just seemed to get tired of it. It was getting dark by this point, so the video quality isn't great.
After a few hours, everyone calmed down. When I finally decided to head home, the otter (who I'd taken to calling Snuffles at this point) was settled down on top of the lodge for a long grooming session, while the family went about their nightly routine unharmed.
@canyakker, the above thread is further to our earlier conversation. 🦫
