On fic fests:

When 00FF began there were only a handful of fests in the fandom. When I took over, that number had grown to around sixty. At present I would estimate the number of fests to be well over a hundred—and that number is only growing by the day.
New fests are being made every week and often opening up with no promotion and very little guidelines, and immediately starting prompting.

In my honest opinion I don’t think NCT ficdom can sustain this level of fests.
As a writer the current situation is stressful. The FOMO is real—we become buried under our WIPs. Please remember that everything you read is written by someone, and for the majority of fests the pool of writers is mostly the same. There will be burnout.
I am not here to tell anyone what they can and can’t do. What I can ask is this—please think before you create a fest. Fests are not the only way to get new content—accounts such as nctficfic do a great job of promoting new fics. There doesn't need to be fests for everything.
To other writers, please don’t feel pressured to join fests.

Lastly: regarding extremely niche fests and prompts. If you have something you would like to see, consider commissioning a writer instead of sending an overly specific prompt to a fest, or creating a fest for it.
Last round I had to delete multiple prompt notes that demanded fics to be long fics, or were overly specific, and I have seen similar entitlement in other fests. Fests are supposed to be fun. They’re not for you to get a fic tailored to you for free.
I am happy to see NCT ficdom's popularity, but the last thing I want to see is the fandom collapse in on itself with this unsustainable level of fests.

Thanks everyone. Take care.
