⚠️ TW: Sexual violence

It turns out, people are still watching Pornhub. So for anyone who is still unaware of Pornhub’s pattern of profiting from non-consensual content, child sexual abuse material, image-based abuse, sex trafficking, racism, & abuse, we present to you: A THREAD
First, Pornhub does not verify age or consent. That means, there’s virtually no way to guarantee that what you’re watching is even legal, let alone ethical. In fact, instances of real rape and child sexual abuse are rampant on the platform. https://twitter.com/AvriSapir/status/1244379836925333505?s=20
Now maybe you’re thinking, “it’s not Pornhub’s fault that people upload that stuff!” But actually, Pornhub has repeatedly stated that they manually review everything uploaded to the site. That would mean they're actively approving & promoting abuse.

In fact, there are a # of reported incidents of Pornhub ignoring victims’ requests to remove illegal content. When Rose was 14, her rape was filmed & uploaded to PH—they ignored her takedown requests until she posed as a lawyer threatening legal action. https://www.bbc.com/news/stories-51391981
PH also hosted a channel whose owners allegedly trafficked 100s of girls into porn. Many victims begged PH to remove videos for years, but PH ignored them—until the owners were charged w/ sex trafficking. The videos are still scattered across the site. https://www.vice.com/en/article/9393zp/how-pornhub-moderation-works-girls-do-porn
Pornhub has also grossly exaggerated their efforts to remove illegal content. While they brush off complaints saying they use "state-of-the-art" technology to prevent the re-upload of illegal content, an investigation by Motherboard shows it doesn’t work. https://www.vice.com/en/article/9393zp/how-pornhub-moderation-works-girls-do-porn
Non-consensual videos are common on Pornhub—these are not isolated incidents. Countless people have been victimized by Pornhub, whether through image-based abuse (aka “revenge porn”), sex trafficking, child sexual abuse, etc. Their abuse doesn't end. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/04/opinion/sunday/pornhub-rape-trafficking.html
Pornhub is not the only one—most porn tube sites share the same problems. Regardless, it’s time to stop supporting the industry. It’s time to start listening to victims. It’s time to #StopTheDemand.
