I keep getting asked which of the bellow is better,

@decentraland vs @TheSandboxGame vs @SomniumSpace vs @cryptovoxels

Here are my thoughts,

1/ Thread
2/ It's like asking which of the below is better,

- VRChat
- Fortnite
- Minecraft
- Roblox

Does it matter?

Nope. Because they serve their own niche who all want different things.

There are better questions to ask.
3/ Who is serving their niche/community well?

Is that community growing? Are they staying or leaving?

Do they have a UNIQUE offering that makes new competitors hard to compete with?

Is core steam as active as when project was founded?

Do they have funding to last 3-5+ years?
4/ Right now the overall NFT niche is micro.

So yes, they are 'competing' with each other but in the long rung, as the space 100x's in user base it won't matter.

There will be those that love voxels, others 3D environments, others VR, others 'decentralization, etc.
5/ Me?

I've invested in most. Either in LAND, Wearables, Names(ID's), or ERC-20 tokens.

But also websites, domain names, equity in supporting businesses and other structural components to the 'virtual land' niche.
6/ So no matter who does well, as long as the 'blockchain virtual worlds' concept moves forward, it's a win.

I'm obviously more skewed towards Decentraland/MANA.

I know the community well & like being focussed in growing a small portfolio of projects.
7/ Doesn't mean I think the others won't succeed.

DCL properties have gone up 10x but so have the others in most cases.

I think the virtual world industry as a whole will do well.
8/ BUT, they are the MOST ambitious projects in the space.

A ton of money, community momentum, network effect, stabilization, etc is needed to make any successful.

Will take time & Money.

So who's using that time & money wisely and efficiently?
9/ User generated content means inspiring devs/builders to create.

Either by funding them or exciting them.

So the virtual projects that can do this best will start to stand out and kick start their community momentum.

- MANA on all major exchanges.

- Looks amazing because it has its own client.

- Land sale going on.

- Updates happen frequently and some art galleries look GREAT in there. https://twitter.com/naturevrm/status/1334267224912244745
Highlights of @cryptovoxels,

- New Land is relatively cheap(er).

Highlights of @TheSandboxGame

- Experienced Team in building games

- Strong Brand/IP power

- LAND's are HUGE and quite cheap, ($40-$60)

- Well funded

- Have community momentum with people already building games there.

- SAND on some big exchanges. https://twitter.com/TheSandboxGame/status/1334981263107760129
14/ Bottom line, they've all come a long way,

From empty worlds to $millions in funding and 100's or 1,000's using the platform,

In most cases community moves across all of these projects and will probably work together at some stage.

Most will only continue to get better.
15/ There ARE threats of course so do your due diligence,

Some may run out of funding, some may have a competitor overtake.

Those that don't continue to improve the product immensely will fall behind.

Join the discord, talk to investors, haters, etc.

Always DYOR
I invested in what I think I can add value to most.

I hold meetups in Decentraland, bring partnerships, amplify awareness, feedback loop to team to fine tune product, etc

So if I were you, I'd pick something you like and can help grow.

This will increase chance of success.
