Fess-hole: I've recorded about 30 hours of teaching this semester, yet I've never watched *any* teaching video on *any* subject for more than about 30 seconds.
apart from the times I fell asleep on the sofa in front of BBC2 Open Univesity.
I literally hate videos. Just give me the notes. Which I also hate.
The longest I've ever concentrated on a video clip was watching @JamesBSumner - a living legend - teach us all how to make engaging videos. Even then I skipped a lot.
James has been described as by others in the department - and I quote - "a really very helpful chap", and I think there is no higher honour.
My teaching philosophy, you ask?
I learnt a lot from my teachers.
The best approach to any subject is to simply know it all already, and swap amusing anecdotes about what Prof. Sketchy got up to in the JCR in the late 70s

where this gets serious is that my institution has started recording videos to share important information.
Already it's hard to parse the thickets of words in their emails to extract basic information.
Now they are weaponising our 10-minute pedagogical videos against us.

look, no-one would have listened to a word of George Orwell's video lectures. That is an objective fact. He had a voice for Teletext, and that's being kind.
