as a black person, i’m making this thread because i’m sick of the performative activism surrounding blm on anitwt. y’all treat it as a trend and a way to get interactions and when black people call you out you speak over us and play the victim
first of, i’m begging y’all to stop tweeting things like “like if you still support blm!” bc it’s painfully obvious that you don’t really care about us and just want likes and follows. stop reducing a human rights movement to a twitter trend and a quirky personality trait.
these kind of tweets do nothing for us. if you actually want to help, amplify black voices. LISTEN and don’t insert yourself in discussions where your input isn’t needed. besides, black people aren’t there to educate you. we’re tired of repeating ourselves, google is free.
when being called out, stop trying to defend yourself at all costs, step back and listen for once. don’t tell us what to be offended or not about, we know when something is antiblack. just apologize and don’t make that mistake again.
stop saying stuff like “keep the same energy you had with blm” to uplift another movement. it’s not oppression olympics. just bc a movement isn’t getting as much as attention doesn’t mean you have to take it out on black people, and it’s honestly anti black as hell.
finally, if you need a pat on the back for supporting black lives then your activism is purely performative and is not needed. don’t use us as prop to boost your ego. same thing if you stop supporting blm because a black person wronged you.
