Let's talk about #donating items to those in need. When we went to drop off our donation toys, I saw a GIANT ASS TEDDY BEAR in the box. Now, that may seem like 'oh, fun and special' but in reality it's very impractical.
Many people living in major #poverty may live in small spaces, be transient, or both. They could live in a small apartment, a motel room, a single room with friends and family, their vehicle, etc. A giant teddy bear cannot be taken from place to place as a sort of comfort item.
While I encourage you to donate quality items to people in need, please also think about the potential lifestyle and needs of those people. Practicality matters a lot. Also, if you're donating just random gifts to a gift drive, not to a specific child; that range is important.
Things like board games or art supplies take up less room and can be played with by siblings and families. Also, don't forget that if you donate things like dolls, or anything with a skin tone, that you think about donating a skin tone OTHER than white.
Please ALWAYS think about the people on the other side of the donation. The donation should be about them, and not about you.
