personally, i would translate "可我独独从没想过要害你" to "but you're the only one i have never thought of harming." to me, this is a vast difference from "but you're the only one i never harmed" bc the former can suggest that jgy knows he hurt lxc most in the end.
being st*bbed by your best friend through the heart, it's understandable that he would say things in anger. and i see it as at a complete loss of how to carry on from here. if it was one of the people he had plotted against, giving him the final blow, he would of course fight to
the end bc jgy is a survivor, but he would accept the fight. he spent his life waiting for heavenly retribution but the heavens never came to his aid, so he took fate in his own hands. i can see him expecting the same to be done to him.

maybe he was selfish, but this is their story. a story that parallels many relationships throughout cql. and lxc gave him that one last bit of warmth. jgy holds on to it with all that he has. and when he pushes lxc away, bc he's the one person he never wanted to harm,
he would keep that promise to the end, he knows regret. my favourite acting decision is the way jgy looks at lxc as he is pushed to safety. he knows that the person he loved most was the person he harmed the most in the end.

the discussion of stories is fun bc we all have our own interpretations. there is no "more superior" one. just something to consider before suggesting that somehow our interpretation, an interpretation that happens to agree with the actors', is intellectually "lesser" than yours.
on another note, bc i had the misfortune of stumbling upon all the discourse i missed lmao, an understanding of culture as simply individualism vs. collectivism is not nearly enough. the first thing we learn in any psychology class is that these are very broad categories.
and finally, please, this is fiction. this is fandom. please do not assume anyone's cultural identity based on their interpretations of their favourite character. if another fan's interpretations are not complex or dark enough for you, you can mute, unfollow, block as needed.
and please be wary of suggesting that their interpretations are not dark or toxic enough for you. not everyone wants to or has the headspace to engage with that material at all times or ever.
