As part of an active investigation, NAS is tracking China’s illegal ties to American higher education and government research institutions. This week, we published more important findings. https://buff.ly/3ojTS5i
Academic institutions are often a target for the CCP. Not only are they able to influence American minds, but they are also able to steal intellectual property, swipe research secrets, and spy on Chinese nationals abroad. They achieve these ends through several means.
Their 200+ “talent recruitment programs,” for example, funnel scholars from across the world to work in secrecy with Chinese researchers under the veil of “international collaboration.”
Another “legal” means they pursue is their Confucius Institutes, which create financial dependence on the CCP for American higher education institutions. In addition to ties considered legal, they pursue quiet illegal relationships.
