On @ShopifyPlus?

Trying to use the new native checkout functionality?

Here's what you should know.

( A thread. )
1) We all use third party checkouts and apps currently to achieve subscribe-and-save, post-purchase up-sells, etc.

You'll likely have to continue this for a little while longer.
2) This is because "custom checkouts" aren't allowed to use the native checkout until Q1 2021 (supposedly January).

@Shopify is trying to reduce variables during the rollout.
3) A "custom checkout" means you opted into to having access to your checkout.liquid file in your theme

And/or you're using scripts via the Script Editor.

( Two major reasons for being on Plus. )
4) You can request from your Plus rep to rollback your checkout to get access to the native checkout functionality today.

However:

- No access to checkout.liquid

- No scripts

- Only a handful of apps available that integrate with new checkout APIs today.
5) You can find the apps available today listed here: https://apps.shopify.com/collections/checkout

Though initially announced, Recharge is missing from that list, likely due to a rollout issue.

However, you can access it directly here: https://shopifysubscriptions.com/affiliate/144  (affiliate link)
6) CartHook also now has a new Post Purchase Offers app.

Their third party checkout app is now "legacy" and no longer available for install.

If you happen to have it installed, it is still a great option for today IMO as it works with the Script Editor.
7) Ultimately, third party checkouts will go away as @Shopify is pushing everything to one native checkout.

They are not building in merchant-facing admin screens to support subscribe-and-save & such but providing APIs (checkout extensions) for third party apps to provide these.
8) We should see more apps with checkout functionality available in the app store next month when Shopify allows them.

If what you have is working, I'd wait to do your transition in Q1.

We're all looking forward to what additional checkout extensions they provide in the future.
