Outside of $DOT ecosystem, these last days I have been holding @BaseProtocol . Some of you at first sight will say: A rebase token? Is not $BASE a copy cat of $AMPL? . @AmpleforthOrg was a huge innovator in elastic supply tokens, but its use is not too clear (fiat maybe?)
Then a token with no use, it's not attractive at all for some people, so what's the use of @BaseProtocol ? Being pegged to the global market cap of cryptocurrencies make it work as a global index for cryptos. It can be compared to S&P 500. https://money.usnews.com/investing/investing-advice/articles/are-index-funds-still-a-good-investment
Rebase tokens are having a great adoption, as 2 projects being in top 100 shows, but I cant imagine a better collateral for DeFi. For instance, let's say that you borrow $BASE for buying another crypto, that crypto falls by 50% but the total mcap of cryptocurrencies...(next)
... just falls by 30%. That would make your $BASE 30% cheaper and the other crypto you bought %50. Your loos would be just a 20%. In bear or bull markets, $BASE it's a good choice.
Finally, some tokenomics. Right now @BaseProtocol is trading at 5M mcap. Today we are having the 3rd rebase, all of them were positive. Today's rebase at the time of writing is 50%. It's known that rebase tokens at its early stages are a gold mine even more if they have a usecase
