It's good to hear that you want @uniofleicester to be an inclusive community for disabled people @NCanagarajah but many of us are seriously concerned about recent decisions by the Exec Board that are disproportionately affecting disabled students & staff. The proposed restructuring/redundancies within AccessAbility are going to seriously disadvantage your disabled students; as someone who relies on their support, this move is very concerning & does not give a good message to prospective disabled students. @NCanagarajah (2/7)
The Exec Board/HR are also disadvantaging disabled staff (esp. those with hidden disabilities) at risk of redundancy by refusing to provide slides/docs more than 30 minutes ahead of redundancy & restructuring consultations - which is simply not enough time. @NCanagarajah (3/7)
The Exec Board/HR also frequently refuse to do even that by saying that all the info is sensitive - which staff & @leicesterucu reps are finding is rarely the case. This is an access issue & @uniofleicester are failing to provide reasonable adjustments.

Most Boards/Working Groups at @uniofleicester share all doc/slides with all staff the day before a meeting - will you take action to ensure that the Exec Board/HR do too? If you really are committed to inclusivity & disability access then this is vital. @NCanagarajah (5/7)
Will you also commit to rethinking the proposed merger of AccessAbility & the Academic Skills Centre? If you want prospective disabled students to believe that they would be included @uniofleicester then the downsizing of AccessAbility needs to be halted.

As a current PhD student at @uniofleicester these issues are making me very concerned that this is not a University that would truly be committed to my equal access as an employee post-PhD. You have the power to change this @NCanagarajah - will you? (7/7)
