in asia, many things aren’t taken as seriously as they are here. this is why wayv- or other idols do things thinking it’s okay. this includes fatphobia and some other insensitive “jokes.” however, as they are becoming more international, it’s something they need to become++
++ more educated and start looking out for their fans. this is coming from someone who’s lived in china, grew up in a strict chinese household and has most of their friends in china. hendery did this because he thought it was cool. that’s not a reason to make it okay. ++
++ i’m not trying to defend hendery, or what other idols have done in the past, but please remember in asia, they have different views and learn different things as intl fans. all we can do is help educate them.
what i’m trying to say is, there are different things taught around the world which results in different views of things, like cultural views. this is one difference. they have a different view of all this than we do, as foreign fans. ++
++ “they’re 21 years old they should know better” but the thing is, THEY DONT. they were not taught this, while in the west they “try” to be diverse and teach about different cultures, in most asian countries, they don’t. they don’t know the severity of this.
