The stoics had a saying, a principle they used to guide their lives.

Amor Fati: A love of fate.

”Not merely to bear what is necessary.....but love it”

Let's take a look at a classic and modern twitter example of amor fati.

Thread

In 1914, a massive explosion resulting in a huge fire happened at Thomas Edison’s plant.

Destroying ten buildings, half of the legendary inventors site.

He told his son,

"Go get your mother and all her friends. They'll never see a fire like this again."

Amor fati

Charles objected & was scared. His response,

"It's all right. We've just got rid of a lot of rubbish."

Edison determined that he'd lost $919,788 (about $23 million in today's dollars)

Priceless records and prototypes lost.

His insurance covered only 1/3 of the damage.

"Although I am over 67 years old, I'll start all over again tomorrow."

True to word he began rebuilding the next morning.

Edison called on his friend Henry Ford for a loan to get his plant back up and running.

Edison had his plant up and running in three weeks.

His employees worked double shifts. They began producing more than ever.

Edison and his team went on to make nearly $10 million in revenue the following year.

Never once did Edison:

- cry
- complain
- say why me

He simply got to work with a good attitude.

Amor fati.

The Hermano @OneMolinaJK lost 15k followers in one day.

He tried to get his account back and couldn't.

He didn't:

- cry
- whine
- complain

He took action.

He already has nearly 4k followers in less than a week.

Amor fati.
