A few weeks ago an old timer from Baltimore reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in completing a boxing documentary about trainer Adrian Davis. Davis is around 80 and has trained close to 30 champions. The project started with a guy currently behind bars for 50yrs.
A few days ago I got all the footage. I gotta look it over this weekend to see how much of it is usable. This happened after myself, the old timer and the guy in prison had a conference call where I laid out the terms for my involvement. It was a great conversation.
The incarcerated gentleman said he just wants Adrian to get his “flowers” while he’s alive. I won’t mention their names cause they’re well known in the city. No college, nothing but pushing film projects from behind bars. That’s why I don’t want to hear any excuses from anyone.
The 3 of us came to an understanding with no paperwork needed. You know who we need paperwork for? The squares who will be involved. For THEIR own good. A film like this will probably get critical acclaim. There’s enough black tragedy to give everyone their necessary “fix.”
I just want to say if life didn’t stop for a man with 50 years in prison how can you let it stop for you on the outside? I don’t wanna hear about Trump, racism or police brutality. Players “take the field,” everyone else just make excuses OR hate from the sidelines. ✊🏾
