This #JobsDay, there is good news & bad news.

Good news: @toriamos is releasing Xmas music

Bad news: We are ALL reaping the effects of the lack of fiscal policy for the past eight months. People dropping out of the labor force & Black unemployment is STILL in double digits.
One of the big stories is the number of people dropping out of the labor force (now including men!). Slight upticks but given the pandemic, this figure really shows the failure of Senate Rs to meet the moment.

$1T should be a floor, not a ceiling.
For women, much of the same. Slight decreases but the way to read this is that we failed women and have done nothing to help them recover.

If we let the paid leave provisions (from FFCRA) lapse at the end of this month, it will be a disaster.
Going back to the fact that Republicans look at $1T as a ceiling; it is very telling that they are putting a cap on relief when Black men have an unemployment rate of 11.2%.

“Those closest to the pain should be closest to power.” This figure is this phrase personified.
I hate to be a broken record on this, but the fact that direct checks are not a part of the bipartisan package, that state & local relief is meager, that there is a hard cap on relief it SO disheartening.

We did in March, we should've done in June, but we can do it now.
