One thing that has become clear to me in recent days is that there are an astonishing number of white democrats who know very, very little about Black political movements, now and throughout history.

Is it that you feel like you don't need to, because your culture is dominant?
Or have you not bothered to understand the origins of things like "Defund the Police" because it doesn't impact you?

Or maybe you find it irrelevant that BLM was founded by three Black women who continue to be an enormous force for good in the world?
Do you continue to think that the Black Panther Party was a group of armed revolutionaries instead of a group that is responsible for free lunch programs that exist to this day?

How many of you know the name Angela Davis?
White supremacy doesn't just exist on the far right. It's ingrained in everything that takes place in this country and in politics until you start the work of dismantling it in your own mind and in the world.

It's about time the vast majority of white democrats woke up to it.
(And don't hit me with your fragility around this. I've honestly had enough white fragility this week in progressive communities to last me a lifetime. White folks need to learn to listen and be uncomfortable instead of hostile while learning. GAH.)
