Considered as a major symbol of Islam in Belgium, the mosque in the Cinquantenaire Park was financed and controlled by Saudi Arabia, which used it for decades to spread its Salafist Islam. The parliamentary commission investigating the 2016 Brussels Attacks unanimously advised to kick Saudis out, which happened in April last year. The Muslim Executive of Belgium, the official body representing Belgian Muslims, took over (3/6)
