A classic example of the Home Secretary & the Mail’s inability to understand the rule of law.

Aside from the factual error (the letter was signed by Windrush campaigners), the point is:

If the govt is allowed to act unchecked by law or due process, scandals like Windrush occur.

If the Home Office is allowed to remove or deport people whom it designates undesirable or “illegal” without there being any independent checks - without those affected being able to ensure the government is acting lawfully - injustice will occur.
