On the Letitia thing happening right now, I saw a lot of unfounded rumors and crazy hearsay with no receipts.
Looked into it and there's a history of hurt involved. I recalled those two french doctors that wanted to "experiment" in Africa. That was a real thing rooted in racism.

It doesn't feel like anti-science to me. It feels more like distrust of a medical solution when BIPOC/POC have been lab rats in the past.
In PR, they tested the Birth Control/Sterilization without consent. A man hailed as hero claimed he "joked" of injecting people with cancer.

People didn't think he was joking but a white man's word mattered more than the dozen dead.

IMO, what's happening with Letitia is her working through that cultural trauma of medical racism.
Africa has many places that are doing extremely well in controlling the pandemic, yet they are talked down to & there has been open speculation already to experiment there.

I think there's a lot of nuance & context that is flying over people's heads.
I believe in science, I believe in vaccines, I also understand the distrust about a new vaccine in populations that have been targeted for unethical experimentation in the past. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/protest-against-africas-1st-covid-19-vaccine-test-shows-fear
