"it's an illness, not a disability."

..... do y'all know how disabilities typically start?

do y'all know what chronic illness entails?

do y'all know how disabled lives usually end?

this argument actually hurts my brain
their limited definition of disability is just..😠

tonight I saw it used about lupus

you know, an autoimmune disease. that inhibits your immune system from working properly. lacking the ability to distinguish healthy tissue from non-healthy tissue.

lack of ability...disability
I saw it used for Alzheimer's quite a bit not long ago.

you know..... Alzheimer's.....

the one that removes the ability to remember and sometimes care for yourself...

removes the ability.... disability
why do so many grown adults think that disability means lack of mobility

I saw that said recently too

"but ______ won't work for disabled people! you can't get close enough to turn them in bed!"

wh-.... not all disabled people are entirely immobile?

hello? ambulatory?
the best way I've seen it put, is that if you're grieving the loss of something due to your health....you very likely are disabled.

but regardless...there's an intersection between chronic illness and disability

and it's actually a pretty wide intersection.
there's space at the table for everyone

disabled isn't a DIRTY WORD

why do we always have to repeat that
