[Google Analytics]

There's been some uproar on Reddit and tumblr following the Switch 11.0 update about it including Google Analytics functionality.

One post even claims Nintendo made an advertising "deal with Google".

This isn't really true.
Nintendo is likely using Google Analytics for data collection purposes. Things like seeing the most accessed areas of the NSO applet or eShop, how people use the apps, and how much time spent on each page. Marketing things, basically.

For example, here's my GA dashboard.
Many websites and apps are also using GA (or equivalent services) for this purpose.

But in Nintendo's case, it's likely not being used for advertising. There aren't even any non-Switch ads on the eShop or NSO applet. (The News app can't individually target you with ads, afaik.)
Ultimately, you should decide for yourself whether you trust Google and if you're comfortable with this type of tracking.

And if you're not, be aware that this happens outside of the Switch too - on your laptops and phones. Use an adblocker, pihole, and/or other equivalent tech.
