I sent out an email today of the #DataViz talent pipeline I have to hiring managers at work. As I populated it, I realized it was heavily professional white male. While these people have reached out to me asking for help, I asked myself why I didn't have more representation? 1/n
This is not from lack of trying. There are some people I have been trying to bring into JPMC but they have recently gotten new roles or decided they're happy where they're at. Great for them, sucks for me. I selfishly wanted their talents, but I want them to be happy more. 2/n
This thread should not take away from the talent pipeline in that email I sent. All of those people are gifted and amazing people. They are open, passionate, and selfless individuals I've met through the #DataFam. 3/n
I heard a great quote from @CondoleezzaRice that went something like "Diversity is an HR box to check. Inclusivoty is a conscious decision." I want to make sure that I'm as inclusive to not just the external qualifications, but thought as well. 4/n
If you are looking to make a new career move and want to have a champion in your corner, please let me know. It's ok if you don't want to work for a big bank either, I'm happy to help with any type of interview prep or questions you might have. 5/n
In our data world, there's so much economic equity to be shared. We're still at the beginning of this journey and there's a lot of room for growth. It's no longer those who have a PhD and 20 years of experience. A bartender can learn this craft and be successful in no time. 6/n
Having diverse backgrounds, education levels, world experiences, and so on brings so. much. value. to the data analytics space. I want to ensure I'm helping bring those voices to the stage and giving them light. 7/7
