You know, no two trans people have the same relationship with gender transitioning because no two trans people have the same relationship with their body and gender.
Puberty was an incredibly dysphoric experience for me, but only in some ways. It’s complicated for me.

As I’ve written about a lot, I have very little genital dysphoria, and I like having a dick. I’m honestly glad that my genitals looked the way they did by the time I started spironolactone and estradiol.
You know what DID make me dysphoric? Facial hair, body hair, coarse skin

If I could’ve customized my puberty — I would’ve. But you know what? I had no fucking idea being trans was a thing, let alone HRT. I wish someone had told me that I could be a woman, and a trans woman at that. My childhood was filled with so much pain. So, so much
But I didn’t, so here I am.
Additionally: The idea that testosterone is a “poison” that “ruins your body” and HRT is the reversal is flawed. It can help stave off dysphoria in the short-term but it’s very misleading, it creates this reliance on estrogen to be “valid”

It creates this idea that if you dont transition early enough, you’ve set ~masculinity~ in stone, and no one will find you pretty anymore. So go get on HRT ASAP & don’t touch me if you’re over 25!!!!
You can see the cocktail of transphobia, gender essentialism, ableism, & ageism

HRT is life-saving and affirming not because it is the end goal of transitioning, but because it is one tool out of many that lets trans people direct and control their body physically, physiologically, and sexually.
I encourage you to cultivate the relationship with your body, your gender, and your sex that is right for YOU. Not for others, and definitely not so cis people will think you’re pretty.
Be true to what you need, and follow it, whether it involves many surgeries or none.

And yeah, there’s nothing wrong with having a mixed relationship with puberty, HRT, or even womanhood as a whole. And you don’t have to figure this stuff out today. Or tomorrow. Or Saturday. Do it at your own pace, just don’t be a dick to other trans people
