I'm so mad y'all. Teachers who don't teach math - STOP TRASHING OUR SUBJECT. STOP TRASHING IT IN FRONT OF US. STOP TRASHING IT IN FRONT OF THE KIDS. YOU ARE BEING SO DISRESPECTFUL. STOP IT.
My rage is too great to be coherent about this right now BUT WE ARE ABOUT TO HAVE WORDS.
My rage is now more of a simmering discontent, so let me say this:

I get it. We have to heal the math anxiety in the adults if we want to save the children from going through it. I understand.

But it is so discourteous to your colleagues to undermine all of their efforts.
We are already at the top of most people's "most hated subject" list. When you are dismissive of math, even in a self-deprecating way, you give students implicit permission to do the same. And you are adding yet another hurdle for us to try and overcome.
So much of our job is just damage control inflicted by well meaning adults.

We already get enough grief from the general public about why we would ever choose to teach math. You're supposed to be our colleagues and peers. Please, extend us professional courtesy.
I'm talking about stuff like this 👇 Show of hands if your admin (!!!) has done crap like this before? 🙋‍♀️ https://twitter.com/Frantimms/status/1334830157971017730?s=19
EXACTLY. EXACTLY THIS. What implicit messages are students receiving?
