Prepare for some significant earnestness ....

Every week I write a pānui to all my @Te_Papa peeps, putting in things I've noticed, people I've appreciated, (the more) interesting stuff I've done. One of the beauties of Te Papa is that you're never short of content.
The last two weeks though - phew. I've felt like I've scraped myself up off the floor every morning and hauled myself into a person-shaped semblance of basic functioning, & my attention is fizzles around 2.30pm. I'm struggling to make it to BJJ, which normally fills me back up.
Some days, getting the end of 2020 feels like those movies where a pilot tries to land a plane with one blown-out engine: all you want to do is touch down safely, with all your passengers in one piece.
After a conversation with a wise person (cough, @TraceyBridges68) this week, I'm trying now to break up my days with more micro-breaks: little 5 minute things that pull me out of the churn & charge me up a bit.
Writing a Christmas card to thank someone; walking around the building (thank you, brisk Wellington weather), booking a task into January rather than feeling defeated by it in December.
That's what I shared with my peeps this morning - it's been a hard year, we're all a bit (or very depleted) and the need remains to be kind to ourselves and others.
Y'all don't need me to tell you that, or give you permission. But the collective support we had for each other earlier this year was so empowering and so special, it feels good to tap into that again.
