This case, brought by GOP congressman Mike Kelly and other Republicans in PA, claims that the expansion of absentee voting in the state was unlawful. They are asking SCOTUS to prevent any other steps being taken to certify the result, to the extent it hasn't been already
Notably, this lawsuit challenging the expansion of absentee voting was brought AFTER Election Day, not in the months prior
Ultimately, this legal effort hopes to toss out up to 2.5 million absentee votes in PA, weeks after Election Day, when Biden's win has already been confirmed
Justice Alito has asked PA officials to file a response, due Dec 9
People are pointing out that Dec 9 is a day after the Dec 8 "safe harbor" deadline for states to finalize their election results
