#IDPD 2020:
Disability is not a negative word. I spend a lot of my life advocating for authentic inclusion.
Disability should not be feared, avoided, shamed, ignored or pitied. It should be accepted as a difference, just like the colour of your eyes or the month you were born

Living with my disability has shaped me as a person but absolutely does not define me.
Humans are not all the same, diversity is everywhere, and therefore we should not all be treated exactly the same because of course if that were to happen then many are disadvantaged.

What we should do instead is give everyone the opportunity to be successful by removing unnecessary barriers so that everyone has what they need to thrive without divulging additional information
Create options and let individuals have choice.
Create options and let individuals have choice.
People with disabilities need acceptance and empathy not “fixing”. We are not broken. We’re also not permanently disabled. We are only disabled in situations where attitudes, environments & processes prevent us from taking ownership &having authentic accessibility.
Difference is not bad. Difference is strength. Disability does not equate to inability. #fact
