Today, on International Day for Persons with Disabilities, The Canadian federal gov voted yes to Bill C-7, expanding the medically assisted death program (MAiD) to include death for disabled folks even if they aren't close to death. This ableist bill promotes eugenics. #IDPWD2020
Canadians know 🇨🇦 has some deep rooted systemic ableism it needs to resolve. (We don't even have an active law against disability discrimination until 2040!)

But when even the Minister of Disability Inclusion @CQualtro voted for Bill C-7, life feels hopeless. #IDPD2020
What makes this worse? Even the politicians I admire @theJagmeetSingh @LeahGazan @MPJulian @MatthewGreenNDP @DonDavies @nikiashton voted yes on Bill C-7. This bill puts disability rights into a spiral. It is now easier to die needlessly than to get help.

Politicians can't say they care about disabled folks, then turn around & vote yes to make it easier for them to die when the gov is too cheap to give the resources to live on in desperate need.

The ableist Bill C-7 makes it so disabled folks don't have to be dying to die. #IDPWD
This whole thing is why I don't personally celebrate #InternationalDayOfPeopleWithDisability - because it is just a day in words. Actions speak the opposite, and we saw that today.

the very politicians posting about #IDPD2020 are the ones who voted for their deaths today. #IDPWD
I brought back my twitter account for this thread. Why? because I want people to understand something:

The Canadian government, across all parties, would prefer to pay for disabled people to die rather than help them financially to survive.

Voting for it on #IDPD is just cruel.
