hmm, ok no one really asked, but I have been asked before several times so I guess I'll put this here.
Two topics
1) Do you use references?
2) How you draw (specific things) so well?

1) I usually answer no because I
-am lazy
-don't want to lose my flow/inspo/idea
BUT
-IT'S GOOD/BETTER TO
-I do for things I have no experience drawing
-sometimes for muscle/bone structures
-I am constantly looking and observing when I am not drawing, which means

In my day to day, like sitting in a meeting, watching a movie, scrolling thru internet, etc, if I can afford to let my mind wander I am always looking at the way things are structured and tracing people's anatomies.
Ideally I sketch these down so it becomes muscle memory.

This ultimately leads to topic 2) How do you draw (xxx) so well?
and I (all artists) say /PRACTICE/
And people think: sit down and prep all this stuff and get to it for X amount of time.
You can totally do that. It'll probably help you get better faster, but...

most of us 'don't have time' and/or get turned off by the idea of basically 'working' on things.
"Practicing" can simply mean, just draw whatever the fuck you wanna draw. Just do it. Don't overplan it, just do it. Look at things (references) to help you. Consume and observe

And build your eye to learn how to break things down to their details. Simplify complex forms into simple shapes and build up your blocks by taking enjoyment in experimenting with 'techniques' and tools.
And as you are having fun screwing around (even for crack doodles) or drawing your ship Fucking or dressed up as Salt and Pepper for Halloween, you find that you have drawn 100s, 1000s+ of pieces.
Go ahead, number them. Each one. Even that doodle of that butt-faced cat you did

Enjoyment and love is the easiest way to progress, but you gotta do it.
If you want to get better in a shorter time, then you're gonna have to work for it. You're gonna have to put in the same amount of effort artists spent screwing around for 5+, 10+ years into days/weeks

So as many others have said, it's either you take your time by doodling here and there whatever your heart wants to draw/experiment/try out over a long period and thus inadvertently "practice" OR sit down and do it in a very focus and concentrated way.
My thoughts are not "I am going to practice drawing a horse"
It's more like
"Oh fuck, I need Sheith centaurs and only I can provide the exact things I want. what does a horse look like. Fuck, they got tiny legs. so knobby knees. Face long. OH DAMN LOOK AT THOSE MUSCLES."

and usually settling for 'eh, it's ok. it looks like a horse. good enough."
And eventuallyyy when I draw 'em enough I get better
and similar structures will help me draw dogs and dragons and whatever thing I need to feed my Sheith needs
