you could've followed up "cas helped" with dean actually asking if cas is in heaven. and if bobby knows how to find him. THEN let dean have a drive. we could've drawn the conclusion that he's gonna look for cas.
you could've copy pasted "hello dean" from literally any episode without showing misha. it would've had dean and cas reunite on screen. it would've hinted at them sharing a heaven and being together. "hello dean" could've been used in so many ways and especially in so many places
you could've shown us dean owning a bar in heaven. maybe he's cleaning empty glasses in an empty bar... (s14 throwback). then have a bell sound appear, followed by footsteps. dean looking up, smiling. then include "hello dean" -> "took you long enough" (or alternatively "cas")
you could've shown us dean talk to sam before or while working the case. have dean tell sam what cas said. it would've addressed the confession scene and it could've even given us dean's admitting his feelings. boom. bi dean canon.
you could've shown the roadhouse in heaven, while including music and voices coming from inside without showing the actual people. it would've shown us that dean's heaven is filled with many people and we could've deduced that it's all the ones he loves.
you could've shown us pictures of eileen, sam, and dean jr in the house. literal photoshop job... make the blurry wife a brunette and boom. saileen canon. it was that easy.
