Its December & already public school classrooms are decorated for Christmas & are making plans on how to celebrate it w/ their students. Please don't do it. Just don't. You isolate and exclude Ss and especially this year, just don't. https://www.chemedx.org/blog/creating-inclusive-classroom-december 1/
If your "holiday" displays around Christian holidays, then you are not being inclusive. Are you decorating for Holi? Sukkot? Eid? No? you just happen to teach about holidays in December, well, think about your choice. 2/
And don't just say "but all the kids love it" - guess what, not all kids do but they don't feel even more stigmatized. And when people tell you that others are being left out, listen. 3/
I'm not being particularly articulate, but it boils down to this. Are you encouraging all S voices and experiences? Who should the classroom be for? Consider how your choices impact those around you and those you educate. /end
