This statement contains the astonishing assertion that the Keira Bell case will 'weaken' the concept of Gillick competence.

Bell does not 'weaken' Gillick competence but supports it. And the use of the 'parens patriae' jurisdiction to protect children who have no one else to keep them safe.

That an institution with the reach and influence of Amnesty can tell such a lie is significant.

They presumably have enough lawyers to be able to tell them that this comment is nonsensical. And yet they chose to make it.

What we are seeing is propaganda, pure and simple.

I do not expect to see propaganda and lies from these types of institutions, in 2020. I thought we had evolved, I thought we were better than this.

Not for the first time I see that I was wrong.

Why do they think that fearmongering lies help their cause? Do they really think the High Court will be gaslit or intimidated?

But one thing gives me hope. Despite having the weight of every major charity behind them, wealthy activists, the police etc etc, the Tavistock still failed to make its case.

So I will live in hope that the truth remains and will be seen.
